I was going to slow down my weight loss, but then I had to go and look at the Diabetes Association's website and take their risk test. I'm at low risk now, but if I get to 185, I'd be in their "zero risk" category. That sounds like a good thing so I guess I'll keep going. Based on past experience, I think that would put my waist at about 33. Right now I wear a 36 comfortably. I suppose if I got it back down to a size 32 waist, my high school self would be happy. My high school self (at one point a 28 waist/32 long) thought your waist shouldn't exceed your leg size. Of course, I don't think I've been a 32/32 since my freshman year in college.

So we'll see how it goes.

I scored 5 points with the exercise field checked. 10 without it checked. I'm also African American / Native American. My grandfather has and great grandmother had diabetes, in addition to relatives on the other side of the family. My father and aunt had kidney failure, his mother died of a heart attack in her 30s. Looks like I'm at high risk for a lot of stuff.

Yeah, genetics seem to play a big role. My ex Adam's father and paternal aunt both have diabetes so I tried to get him off of soda and juice and onto sugar-free drinks which I was mostly successful at.

I doubt I'll get diabetes just because no one in my family has it. But almost everyone in my family dies of heart attacks or strokes so, I figure, that'll be my fate. So, no cancer (not even in the heavy smokers), no diabetes. Very high risk of heart problems, some risk of stroke, small chance of alzheimers.
